Scott Grove Creates contemporary classic art furniture with a harmonious blend of uniquely carved textures, rich polychrome finishes and exotic woods with radiant figured grain. Must touch, is the attraction of each piece, tactile to every sense. Sophisticated and elegant with a touch of whimsy will raise a sense of wonder.

Chip Carving: Each surface is hand carved through a variety of techniques to achieve the desired expression. Gouge chisels, mechanical spurs, die grinders, routers and chain saws are used to create our unique textures and appearance. Sealed, primed and thoroughly sanded between coats. On larger pieces, which are typically displayed against a wall, the backs are not carved unless requested by patrons.

Polychrome: All our polychrome finishes are hand applied. Proprietary in nature, finishes typically start

Finish: with a base coat of real copper. Numerous techniques and applications of subtle textures and glazes are slowly built up to create a rich deep finish with depth and sophistication. Final top coat is a satin sheen, catalyzed conversion varnish which is resistant to water, alcohol, mild solvents and many household detergents. Interiors and backs have a complimentary splatter finish.

Veneer: All veneer is hand selected for optimum color, grain, and texture. The woods we use are the finest natural selections of native, exotic and specialty veneers in the world. They are unique, sustainable as well as an ecological way of protecting and promoting the planets valuable forest resources. Seams may be straight cut or contour cut with our proprietary technique. Wood is one of mother nature’s beautiful expressions, variations in grain, color and figure is part of her natural characteristic. Patterns & colors may vary. When sap wood (contrasting lighter portion) is used as a design element, the pattern may vary. Veneer examples may be viewed through links at our web site: www.scottgrove.com.

Chipped A thin layer of glass is textured on one side leaving the outer face smooth.

Glass: The appearance is unique and resembles frosted ferns on a winter window. This treatment can be enhanced by silver leafing the chipped back surface, giving it a stunning, yet delicate textural effect. See detail page.

Custom As each piece is created one at a time, custom orders are accepted. We often work

Orders: We work directly with designers, architects or the client, keeping your interests in focus. We offer many design options that can be matched to suit your specific requirements. Each piece can be customized by selecting from a variety of uniquely hand carved textures with a rich polychrome finish, then complimenting the piece with a choice of figured wood. Site specific custom size orders are also accepted.
